According to a 2023 study, 4% of students in the UK have an EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan). It is difficult for many families to acquire them, as they must navigate government websites and wait for twenty weeks to receive one. This leads many not to get appropriate help and support, often getting placed in classes that can be overwhelming.
Disruptive behaviour is 50% of the reason that students are excluded, according to the government of UK. Many of those could be undiagnosed behavioural issues, or the student’s way of trying to communicate their disappointment.

The lack of designed educational support can increase feelings of isolation and frustration among SEND learners, making it harder to concentrate.
This issue highlights the need for more accessible and efficient pathways to Educational Healthcare Plan’s (EHCP), as well as increased awareness and training for educators to recognize and address the unique needs of these students. By making a more inclusive and supportive educational environment, we can help ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities, have the opportunity to succeed and thrive in their academic journeys.
It is believed that with the appropriate educational support and guidelines, SEN learners can not only excel in their learning and professional journey, but it can also help in maintaining their mental well-being and development. Also, they can focus more on successful career paths.
