What happens when you ring Childline?
Childline is always there to support you. When you call our free 0800 11 11 number you’ll come through to our switchboard. You’ll then speak to someone who’ll make sure you’d like to talk to a counsellor before putting you into the queue. Once you are in the queue it’s usually only a few minutes until someone answers.
These people listen to people that need help and don’t tell anyone else but try to help you in a way and wants to make sure that the person is safe at all times so ChildLine might ring the person back.
Childline is also confidential so things that has been said wont be said to parents because its kept hidden.
Is Childline safe?
ChildLine is anonymous and confidential – this means you don’t need to tell anyone that you’re signing up for an account or that you’re talking to us.
ChildLine is a private space where you can talk about things you don’t feel able to say to anyone else – and this can include your parents if you wish.
The ChildLine services are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So you can talk to us any time. But they might not be able to talk for as long when it’s after midnight because its past time that they operate.
Childline is also donated though the charity called NSPCC partnerships this is with is example from something called child ball. Police if its bad can get involved if the child is being abused.
