Clean Air Zone was introduced on 1st June 2021 and a lot of drivers will be affected. Those who have been driving for a long time, the elderly who have old cars will have problems as their cars may not be compliant with Clean Air Zone.

Those who drive diesel cars must be 2015 onwards to be exempt from Clean Air Zone charges and those who drive petrol cars must be 2006 onwards to be exempt from Clean Air Zone charges. You can check whether your vehicle is compliant with Clean Air Zone by typing the number plate of your vehicle on www.gov.uk/cleanairzone and you will be told whether your vehicle is compliant with Clean Air Zone.

As you can see for this car, which is a 2010 and diesel model, it is non-compliant with Clean Air Zone and will have to pay a £8 charge.
